Hello!  I'm Carol, and I love to create in the kitchen.   I was raised on a farm in the middle of the South Dakota prairie, the youngest of 11 (yes ELEVEN!!).  We butchered our own cows, pigs and chickens, rendered our own lard, separated the cream from our cow's milk, made our own butter with at least 7 loaves of bread a week, and a huge garden to harvest from.  It wasn't until much later that I truly appreciated how my mom was able to put food on the table.   

I've always LOVED to eat.  I never realized how much I loved to create food until my 30's when wanderlust took me to live in Philadelphia.  A whole new culinary world was unfolding before me as I traveled along the East Coast with all of it's niches of food culture.  At the time I knew very few people there, so most of my time away from work was spent figuring out how to make as many of these items as possible.  That's when I started my cookbook collection, and realized how much I loved trying to create the local specialties.   Now it’s time to share those things with you!

I live in Brookings, South Dakota with a cute Australian Shepherd named Maude, and another hairy beast named Jay!  Some of my favorite things are road trips, spicy pickled anything, baking for others, and reading cookbooks.
